Brian Smith
General Manager at Eastdale Mall

Brian Smith is the General Manager of Eastdale Mall, a position he proudly took on in August 2024. In this role, he oversees all aspects of the mall’s operations, including tenant management, facility maintenance, marketing, security, budgeting, staffing and customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for visitors while fostering strong relationships with tenants and the local community. For Smith, managing the very mall he once shopped in as a child is his greatest career accomplishment, symbolizing a full-circle moment and a chance to give back to the community he cherishes. Beyond his role at Eastdale Mall, Smith founded The Blueheart Foundation 334 in 2012 to support underprivileged families and children in Montgomery. He also mentors students in the Carver High School Marching Wolverine Band, encouraging them to pursue their dreams of joining collegiate bands and earning scholarships. Under his leadership, Eastdale Mall hosts two monthly health initiatives, provides free health resources, and surprises elementary school students with complimentary skating and pizza. Additionally, the mall’s Teen Team Board empowers local high school seniors to serve their community and promote the mall, further solidifying its role as a vital pillar in the community.
- Key to Success: Continuing to uplift the community and bring fresh and unique ideas to the table to ensure that our brand, our establishment and our mall is different from any other mall.
- Guilty Pleasure: Getting dressed up with nowhere to go. I will have a full suit on with a bowtie, dress shoes and fedora just to have a full-on Instagram photoshoot.
- High School Superlative: Not a specific superlative, but I was awarded the opportunity to paint the Carver High School Crest on the front wall in the school.
- Childhood Aspirations: I wanted to be a carpenter, because I see firsthand how they could turn simple pieces of wood into monumental art pieces, and I was blown away.
- First Job: Subway at 14 years old
- Best Advice: Be your own biggest fan, your own biggest believer, nobody believes in you more than yourself. Never doubt what you can do.
- Biggest Influence Personally & Professionally: My wife and my mom. My wife would always give me wonderful and helpful ideas on how to continue to serve my community and city, and without her help or input, some of the ideas I have today would not exist at all. My mom showed me at an early age what hard work, determination and patience looks like first hand and made me the businessman who I am today.
