Anna Hornsby is an Associate Attorney at Bradley Arant, where she has worked since January 2022. As a member of the firm’s Healthcare group, Hornsby represents healthcare providers in regulatory, compliance, and litigation matters and assists clients through a variety of government investigations related to their healthcare practices. She particularly enjoys representing providers through disputes with state agencies.
One of her most significant career highlights occurred in 2023, when she worked alongside a team of attorneys representing a client in an eight-week federal criminal healthcare fraud trial in Texas. Hornsby relocated with the team and contributed throughout the complex and contentious case, an experience that strengthened her skills under pressure and reinforced the importance of collaboration in demanding environments.
Hornsby is actively involved in her community, serving on the Junior Board for Embrace Alabama Kids, which provides homes and support for children and families in Alabama. She also serves as Vice President of the Montgomery Young Lawyers.
Key to Success: My key to success is hard work. I take pride in showing up fully, putting in the effort even when things are challenging, and genuinely caring about my clients. That commitment to consistency and growth has shaped my progress and continues to motivate me each day.
Guilty Pleasure: My guilty pleasure is a good Netflix binge. It doesn’t happen often these days with a one-year-old at home, but on the rare occasion it does, it feels like a well-earned treat.
High School Superlative:
Childhood Aspirations: The first female president.
First Job: Working in an ice cream shop, The Little Dipper. We served ice cream, smoothies, and BLTs.
Best Advice: A piece of advice that always stuck with me came from my high school swim coach. Jumping into the water to start a swim practice during the winter in Virginia was miserably cold. I’d be procrastinating, sticking my big toe into the water, and my coach would say, “You can’t finish the practice unless you start the practice!” It was a simple line, but always a great reminder that you can’t achieve without jumping in first!
Biggest Influence Personally & Professionally: Career: In my first year of practicing law, I was paired with a partner the team affectionately referred to as the “kindergarten teacher.” He pushed me to think beyond the immediate problem and find creative, global solutions for our clients. That approach shaped the way I tackle challenges in my career to this day. Personal: My biggest influence personally has been my mom. Whenever I faced an intimidating situation, she’d encourage me to remember, “You are Anna Akers!” It became her motto for me to repeat through challenges, and even now, I hear her voice before a tough task.
