Davis Vaughn serves as a Principal at Beasley Allen Law Firm. His history with the firm began early—working in the mail room and performing clerical tasks during high school summers at age 16—before returning as an attorney in the firm’s Mass Torts section in December 2020 after beginning his legal career at a firm in Birmingham. In his role, Vaughn represents adolescents and school districts in some of the largest litigations in the country, including cases involving JUUL e-cigarettes and social media platforms such as Meta and TikTok. His work focuses on obtaining justice for those injured by corporate misconduct.
Vaughn considers the JUUL e-cigarette litigation one of his greatest career accomplishments, noting the meaningful change and compensation it brought to injured youth and schools nationwide. Outside of his legal work, he supports arts and cultural organizations in Montgomery, including the Alabama Shakespeare Festival and the Equal Justice Initiative.
Key to Success: No good lawyer works on an island—I’m very fortunate to work with a wonderful team of highly talented and passionate colleagues who all bring unique skill sets to our large litigations. I find that my work improves the more I work collaboratively with other lawyers.
Guilty Pleasure: Outside of work, you will often find me at a concert or music festival (especially Kygo and Forester shows). I have always loved live music and enjoy traveling and meeting new people through musical events.
Childhood Aspirations: A lawyer—minus one year in 10th grade when I wanted to (briefly) be a plastic surgeon. I then took chemistry that year and decided after a slight mishap with a Bunsen burner that science was not my skill set.
First Job: I believe my first paid job was acting at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in 6th grade and then for the movie Big Fish, which was filmed in the Wetumpka area.
Best Advice: Take ownership of every case. Whether as a young associate or as a partner on the case, owning all aspects of the case helps ensure the best possible work product is produced and the client has the highest chance of obtaining a favorable result.
Biggest Influence Personally & Professionally: My colleague, Joseph VanZandt, has poured an enormous amount of time, energy and investment into my career growth. Joseph is the kind of leader who allows others to get opportunities to gain real experience and have their time in the spotlight. I would not be where I am career-wise without his efforts.
